Herbal "teas"--otherwise known as infusions or tisanes--are not really teas at all. Actually, the term herbal tea has come to define any herb, dried, or fresh plant part or flower that is steeped in hot water. Because they do not come from the camellia sinesis plant, they cannot be classified as tea. But in the United States, they have been confused with teas because of their popularity as a coffeehouse drink. As most herbs and plants are mellow and caffeine-free, herbal teas offer a calming alternative in our hustle-bustle world.
Brewing Direcions: Herbal teas can be prepared using boiling water. Steep for 5 to 7 minutes.
